Ryan Li
I'm a freelance photographer based in London, England, specialising in travel and wedding photography. I see myself as a collector of romantic tales. Emotions are inherent in light, and when human interactions take stage in the light, powerful stories are being narrated.
I first developed an interest in photography during my fine art studies at secondary school, where we were encouraged to explore different artistic media to express our ideas. At university I became actively involved in student journalism through Cherwell, Oxford University's independent student weekly, working there for 2 years as a contributor and subsequently photo editor. This also led me to the opportunity to win the Guardian Student Media Award with my shot of a Hong Kong mask seller at the height of the SARS crisis.
With a degree in BA Experimental Psychology, I am also a full-time mental health researcher at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
